UK Beckons
23rd July 2011

I leave the US tomorrow and head back to the good old UK, after a longish sojourn here in Idaho, with lots of things happening. The most important event for me was being here for the birth of my new grandson, Luke William, who seems to be enjoying the good times so far, lunch counter on tap, willing hands to clean him up and his own personal baby sun bed for the touch of jaundice he has at the moment, on loan from the hospital. Ah the good life.

We are now waiting for the finished edit of THE TELL TALE HEART, which I am excited about. We will be offering this and BEWARE OF WHAT YOU WISH FOR on the site http://newchillingtales.com .Other films planned are THE BODY SNATCHERS by Robert Louis Stevenson and THE INCIDENT AT OWL CREEK by Ambrose Pierce.

Next Day

I am continuing this in San Francisco Airport, while waiting for my connecting flight to London. I seem to spend many hours in airports waiting for connecting flights from Boise to London, my favourite is Seattle, which has a fantastic fish restaurant, then San Francisco, lots of Asian (Chinese) staff here and things are expensive. I could be having a neck massage, but it’s $30 for ten minutes and I think that’s pushing it a bit, so I am finishing this week’s Blog. Haven’t even treated myself to a book, though several took my fancy, especially a new one about Abraham Lincoln, which is getting quite a bit of attention! No...... all funds are directed at more films and grandchildren and the airfares to see them at the moment!

I am planning a trip to Cologne for a few days to see my Grandfather’s house, where he lived before fleeing Germany. The kind occupants have invited me over and they have put up a plaque on the house, to say he lived there. Despite his bitterness and sadness over events in 1930’s Germany, I am sure he would be pleased. I have been to Cologne once before with my father in the 1970’s, he would not go back after he left, but relented enough to take me there to show a little of my family history. It is a beautiful city and I look forward to going back.

On the flight from Boise to San Francisco I sat next to a lady, who turned out to be the owner of the most interesting movie theatre in Boise, called the Flicks. Having got up at 4am I slept through most of the flight and we only got chatting as we were about to get off- pity. The Flicks shows all the avant garde independent and foreign films ...it’s a great little theatre and since we dont all want to go to the massive multi-plexs, where you need a map to find your way around, a large bank account to buy the tickets and the food just to watch huge overblown 3-D films, made largely for kids, the Flicks will always do well I am sure.

The next big job is get the chilling tales website up to speed and ready for public use. This involves quite a lot of web marketing expertise, some of which I learned when we set up our website for the Merrow Language Recruitment business. That business was brainchild of my father, long before websites etc. I sold it on the back of the website, but before I did, I and my assistant Sanna had a crash course in Search Engine Optimization, blogging, key words etc, etc and I just have to relearn it all again for people to find and use the site. A bit mind boggling I must say, but I enjoy it.

Think I’ll go and have some Sushi now, I love it. So till next time....‘bye dear friends. Jane
